Toshiba’s Facial Recognition

Recognition may be associated with evil surveillance states, but Toshiba has put another spin on the technology with a new slogan:

“Log on with just a smile.”

The company’s newest laptops use an imbedded Webcam to take a quick shot of the user and compare it with his or her profile.

Matching the user’s face can replace or supplement a password, along with the fingerprint scanner included on many of the company’s PC models.
